Phoenix Wright | Ace Attorney
Character Name: Phoenix Wright
Character Series:Ace Attorney
Canon Point:Shortly after the end of Trials and Tribulations.
Preferred Housing: N/A, but if it's not cheap I'll be disappointed.
Background: Universe links at the Ace Attorney Wiki. There's also the info page at Court Records, along with Phoenix's character page. As a side note: Any and all Ghost Trick characters that show up belong to the same universe.
Personality: Outwardly, Phoenix is a pretty mild-mannered sort of guy. He's easily intimidated, doesn't like to make more of a fuss than strictly necessary, and while he can be prone to emotional outbursts, he's not the sort of guy who homes in on conflict. Most of his less diplomatic comments are kept to himself (or attempted, anyway; he occasionally illustrates exactly what he's thinking on his face). In short, he's generally an everyman.
Until you get him to court.
Phoenix is a turnabout specialist, a guy who can take a seemingly hopeless case and turn it into a victory. Typically, this ends up by the skin of his teeth. It doesn't help he functions in a court system that is antagonistic towards defense attorneys, who are seen as obstructing a quick, simple flow of getting as many criminals in jail as possible. But when he truly, honestly believes in the innocence of his client -- and this is usually the case, since he refuses to take the cases of those who simply want to manipulate the court to get them off a crime they're clearly guilty of -- he's ferocious, exploiting every weakness in a testimony, every seemingly innocuous piece of evidence. His mentor, Mia Fey, taught him to think outside the box, and he embraces that style whole-heartedly.
Phoenix believes in truth and justice over victory. He will fight for his clients, sure, but only to ensure that the full story behind any crime comes out. A true lawyer, in his experience, works with the prosecution to ensure that every loose end, every possible alternate explanation or contradiction, has been ironed out, leaving nothing but the full, undiluted truth. The truth hurts sometimes, to be certain, but it has to be put out there. Leave a story incomplete, and justice cannot be achieved. It is only when everything is out there, warts and all, that judgment can be passed.
That said, Phoenix is also fiercely loyal to friends. He is most motivated when he has a personal stake in a case, usually a friend who is either on trial or in danger, and can otherwise be somewhat lazy and overly selective in his clients. Unfortunately, his loyalty also tends to bring out his rashest decisions, which more often than not hurt more than help. Still, you can count on him to defend you to the end -- and, perhaps, even sacrifice himself if that's what it takes to ensure your safety.
Sample Entry: Phoenix has a long and illustrious history in the world of pretendy funtime games...
Notes: At some point, Phoenix will be buying back uses of his magatama. This is an artifact that's both powerful and, er, not, so I'm unsure how much it will cost. A couple other things:
1.) Phoenix will almost certainly spend some time trying to get any information that he can on the organization behind this. He does NOT appreciate people's lives being forfeit for the sake of some silly game no matter HOW well-intentioned it is.
2.) If worse comes to worse, and he has close enough friends, he's the type who'd try to spend his last dollar first...

Excel | Excel Saga
Character Name: Excel
Character Series: Excel Saga
Canon Point: After vol. 22
Preferred Housing: N/A
Background: Excel Saga takes place in Fukuoka, Japan where an underground syndicate by the name of ACROSS, the Organization for the Institutionalization of the Supreme Ideological Ideal on Earth, is as the title suggests, working to take over the world. In order to conquer the world, ACROSS believes that one must first conquer half of that. But in order to conquer half of the world, one must first conquer the quarter of that and so on. To conquer the world, therefore, one must conquer an entire city, that being Fukuoka.
The manga originally was written in response to the Japanese recession and to reflect that, the world-conquering organization only has two members total: its leader, Il Palazzo, and the executive officer, combatant, and latrine orderly, Excel. Believing that the world is corrupt, Excel is charged by Il Palazzo with gathering information around the city and delivering items to specific areas to divert enemy efforts while often being dropped down “the pit”, a trap hole built into the base. While conquering the world is clearly on the agenda, Excel must also make means to sustain herself through income provided by various part-time jobs... most of which she's fired from or quits for one reason or another.
During a flood as Excel swims her way over to ACROSS' headquarters, she comes across a dog, Mince, that she rescues and makes into her “emergency ration” and the “third member” of ACROSS. Just as she's pulled down the “pit” again, this time, she finds herself in the harsh seas hours later where she has trouble dealing with the Japanese Immigration Bureau. After being labeled as an illegal immigrant, thrown into prison, and escaping from said prison, she returns to Fukuoka to find that Il Palazzo has hired the official third (fourth in Excel's book) member of ACROSS, Hyatt, an anemic girl who often finds herself dead from time to time.
Opposing ACROSS is the City Environmental Security Administration, a government bureau headed by Dr. Kabapu. The administration was made in response to Kabapu's belief that there is somebody trying to take over the city. As such, he chooses a group of young people with potential who more or less all took the same entry-level civil servant test, Toru Watanabe, Norikuni Iwata, Daimaru Sumiyoshi, and Misaki Matsuya. Most of their tasks are limited to paperwork, but Kabapu sends them off in missions such as searching the sewers which often makes them question the nature of their “entry-level civil servant” positions. All five members of the Administration along with Excel and Hyatt were placed in the same apartment, although they generally manage to avoid each other through sheer luck.
Later on, Il Palazzo assigns Excel and Hyatt to find the new member to ACROSS, giving them vague instructions without mentioning the specific location. They manage to find a hotel sitting out by the hill where they are mistook by the manager as the new part-time workers. Albeit uncertain of who may be the new member, after a mishap with a fighter jet and yet more issues with the Immigration Bureau, they manage to return to the base to find Kasumi Munakata, or Elgala, the official fourth, but fifth member of ACROSS. Excel begins to take more of an authoritative approach with her juniors. With Elgala accustomed to more luxuries, Excel begins to focus more of her efforts on scrimping and saving. Even in their new apartment, she forbade hot water and most use of electricity to the bare minimum.
As Il Palazzo declared that ACROSS will no longer be a “secret organization”, Excel, Hyatt, and Elgala took to the streets, proclaiming their intentions to conquer the world. The Administration then began to actively thwart ACROSS. While the other members found reasons not to enter the field, Iwata, the “leader”, would often be the one to fight the three... often ending in a bitter defeat largely thanks to Excel, but with the “enemy” also making their presence known, the three retreated to plan and regroup. Il Palazzo himself demonstrated to Fukuoka soon the power that ACROSS had been keeping hidden as he projected a giant hologram of himself, announcing his goals for conquest.
Il Palazzo was then revealed by Kabapu to possess mass quantities of “over-technology” from the ancient civilization, Solaria. The two were members of it countless years ago, but the city vanished as a result of the over-technology. Kabapu found himself to be one of the last survivors and he spent the remaining years searching for the last bits of Solaria's technology in order to destroy it, killing many other survivors along the way, and admitting to using “dead men's souls” to achieve his goals. Il Palazzo, the last survivor and once a fond friend of Kabapu, stands on the last remaining remnant of Solaria, its “ruin”, and to conquer Fukuoka and access the “ruin” could mean the absolute end of the world.
Kabapu possessed the “Core” necessary to enter the Ruin and challenge whatever is inside and collaborating with a disappeared scientist named Tenmangu Shiouji and then his son, Gojyou, he created the Ropponmatsu unit. Excel, Hyatt, and Elgala were never briefed in detail as the Administration members were, whose members mostly cringed at what seemed to be nothing more than an old man's fantasies. The three were instead assigned simply to kidnap Ropponmatsu, an “employee” of the Administration. In time, as another mishap separated the three, Il Palazzo used his overtechnology to teleport and retrieve Ropponmatsu, Hyatt, and Elgala, leaving Excel stranded to fend for herself. During her time away from Fukuoka, she developed a case of amnesia and was taken in by the Shiouji household as Teriha Shouji all the while Il Palazzo started becoming a dominant power in Fukuoka.
The hologram projection was announced to be a publicity stunt by the ILL Electronics company. Gaining financial power and public approval, Il Palazzo used blackmail to unearth Kabapu's corruption to ruin him. Excel, while in the care of the Shioujis, enjoyed a significantly more “normal” life especially with Umi Rengaya, Goujyou's cousin. Excel saw from time to time more of Il Palazzo's image as well as someone who resembles her by his side, a “President Excel”, or rather, a reprogrammed Ropponmatsu. By the time the Administration regained financial and political power, ILL Electronics came under attack for its apparent corruption.
Kabapu challenged Il Palazzo to the mayoral office and invested whatever money he had to sling mud at the man. Using his “young friends” in the Administration, Kabapu tried bombing Il Palazzo's van. Excel as Teriha watched the first bombing attack, relieved to see that Il Palazzo was not harmed. Only Elgala was. Once Kabapu was able to win the office, he had the ILL Electronics building bombed again out of boredom this time, but was infuriated at the possibility that another bomb had been planted by somebody else altogether and that it would set his off. News of this spread and Teriha raced to the ILL building to protect Il Palazzo from harm. Reuniting with Elgala, who became a scapegoat for ILL's accusations, and teaming up with “President Excel”, she worked to find and disarm the bombs planted... only to fail.
Excel recovered her memories and raced over to Il Palazzo's office to warn him personally, only to be thrown out by the explosion. Il Palazzo teleported away to safety, expressing disappointment as he bid Excel farewell. Excel was left to fall and with Elgala, she began to uncover the secrets behind ACROSS' “intruder”.
Personality: An aggressive and excitable woman, Excel has a near inexhaustible supply of energy that could keep her going for weeks on end with the most minimal of food. She often takes on the bulk of the heavy lifting duties in her missions and part-time jobs and would tirelessly work to accomplish it no matter how the odds are stacked against her. Her actions are driven by her almost fanatic devotion to her leader, Il Palazzo, and labeling herself as his “number two” (which is something that he probably doesn't consider her as), she uses every bit of energy in her body to further his goals or her financial state. As strong as she is (but perhaps “able” is up for debate), she retains a high level of subservience for Il Palazzo which ultimately appears to chain her.
As subservient as she is to Il Palazzo, however, Excel is absolutely controlling when it comes to her juniors. She strongly maintains her assumed role in ACROSS' hierarchy and forces both Elgala and Hyatt to follow her directions precisely. When Il Palazzo is away, she acts independently as his “number two” and makes orders that she feels would further ACROSS' goals. Hyatt generally acts as Excel, her “senior”, tells her to do, but towards Elgala, she often uses either verbal or physical force to keep her in line. In a way, though, she does care for both Hyatt and Elgala much more than she would like to admit. After working with other agents for so long, she would often feel lonely if she was alone again. As troublesome as Hyatt's constant dying or Elgala's “taste for the bourgeois lifestyle” is, she likes having them around especially when things begin to literally blow up. Besides, there aren't too many other people that would be willing to stroke her ego every now and then.
Towards other people beyond ACROSS, however, Excel prefers keeping her distance. Those that have no affiliation with her outside the workplace are often ignored and labeled off as just one of the many average “Joe Ignorant Masses”. She does, however, remember the people that have either treated her somewhat well, but she remembers the people that have wronged her in some way even more. Excel keeps a “purge list” handy to make note of everybody that ought to be put down once she rules the world with Il Palazzo. She isn't one to eagerly make new friends and distances herself wherever possible for the sake of security measures, but there are cases where she has bonded with some people like Mr. Owner and Ms. Manager.
A pet peeve that Excel has is spending far too much than the budget allows. She values hard work and thinks little of spending too much, preferring thrift and to save. Living a life like this out in the streets has given Excel a taste for pigeon meat and fish from the polluted rivers. While her junior officers might have reservations, Excel has been known to care little for washing herself with the park fountains when without. She doesn't mind having to “confiscate” items every now and then for a “higher purpose”. The art of “dine and dash” is something she has long perfected to the point where she doesn't spill a single drop from the bowls of soup she steals while running away from the chefs.
Another pet peeve is that Excel realizes that she doesn't seem to have any unique talents. She is called a “jack of all trades”, but this implies that she is a “master of none”. While Hyatt (apparently) is a capable sharpshooter and Elgala has proficiency with a sword, Excel just seems to be a well of energy, able to allow her to do just about anything if luck allows. She becomes afraid that at some point, she may not be needed for any purpose. For a while, she was scared at seeing how well Hyatt and Elgala were doing without her leadership, only to get an ego boost once she rescued both of them from a collapsing stadium. Excel wants to be needed and possess some sort of talent to contribute within her inner circle.
There are occasions where Excel suffers from amnesia. As she forgets about her devotion to Il Palazzo, Excel becomes remarkably more reserved and shy. She loses much of the energy that she demonstrates as his “second in command”. Both her regular and amnesiac selves, however, feel uncomfortable when right in the middle of public, showing some sense of paranoia with people. With individuals, however, that gained her trust like Umi Rengaya, she is sometimes able to show a genuine sense of friendship that her regular self has difficulty showing. She became close to Umi to the point where the two are almost like sisters. Excel is capable of interacting with other individuals and becoming intimate with them, but it's nearly impossible as her regular self. She often blocks the memories that she had while having amnesia as she recovers her old memories.

Alphard Alshaya | CANAAN
Character Name: Alphard Alshaya
Character Series: CANAAN
Canon Point: post episode seven
Preferred Housing: N/A
Background: Alphard @ the TYPE-MOON wiki
Personality: Alphard is, in a word, enigmatic. Always one to keep her calm no matter what the situation, it's difficult to tell what she's thinking about. Even the people who are closest to her would not be able to tell you what she's really like; from those who adore her ardently to those who simply work for her, no one can really get a grasp on what kind of person she is. Things that might impress or otherwise earn her favor at one point might get an entirely different reaction out of her the next. She's smart, as one has to be to be the head of a terrorist organization, that's for sure. She's also strong, perhaps surprisingly so depending on how she decides to present herself. However, beyond that it's hard to say much else about her. Depending on the situation, she might be a serene and gentle rumored noble or a cold and ruthless terrorist doing whatever it takes to get a job at hand done. No matter how she presents herself, there is always an air of detachment and disquieting calm about her.
If there's one thing she takes pride in though, it's certainly her own strength. The physical side of it doesn't even need to be mentioned--taking down an elite army squadron doesn't take too much effort to be honest, and neither does defending herself from a trained hitman in the bathroom. No, what she takes pride in is crawling back up in the mud that is hatred. She's lived through the disgrace, crawled up and out of it, and now stands far above it. Unlike Canaan who is consumed by her hatred for Alphard, Alphard herself thinks nothing of it. In fact, she easily lets Canaan go despite having the chance to kill her merely out of amusement and a desire to see what the other girl tries to do next. She has fun with it and certainly doesn't care about the consequences regarding it.
In general, Alphard sees emotion as a weakness. Letting it overtake you, control your every thought, consuming you--in that sense, emotion is nothing but a hindrance. People who are easily emotional more or less have no use to her, and she'll quickly dispose of them herself if they prove to be too much of a burden. On the other hand, strong emotions sometimes amuse her as well. While she normally would have no problem killing a subordinate who was motivated by his emotions, she exerted mercy and allowed him to live, simply telling him to show her what exactly he could do with his "love". Alphard is the type of person where if it amuses her, she'll make exceptions to her own personal code for the sake of being entertained or even surprised.
When all is said and done though, Alphard is a deeply complex person, the depths of which are never entirely explored in canon. Even when it comes to people who are supposedly close to her, she has little trouble in letting them go; she killed her mentor Siam with her own hands and showed no remorse when the girl who called her "Big Sister" died directly because of how much she loved Alphard. Despite that though, Alphard is also bound to her past. According to Canaan, Alphard died when Siam died; she killed him with her own gunshot and clearly enjoyed getting a rise out of Canaan from that, but in some way she also regretted her actions. Her exact relationship with Siam is left unclear, but there must have been some level of closeness for her to have the same tattoo as he did, even if she is the one who ended that relationship. She herself realizes that she is still bound to her past, but she also rises to overcome it and let go once and for all. Regardless of how difficult the action is, Alphard will always commit to doing it if it leads to what she wants for herself.

Kaiji Ito | Ultimate Survivor Kaiji | reserved
Player Name: Lan
Character Name: Kaiji Ito
Character Series: Ultimate Survivor Kaiji
Canon Point: Beginning of Series 3 of the manga; after the Bog win, but before the Mahjong Minefield game.
Preferred Housing: n/a
Background: Wikipedia link
Personality: At first glance, Kaiji seems like your typical Japanese NEET: “no employment, education or training”. Lazy and shiftless, Kaiji has no direction and finds reality to be too demanding and difficult to deal with. He wallows in self-pity and apathy, more prone to cry about his problems than actually do anything productive about it. He spends his time drinking and playing pranks to keep himself occupied, bitter at other people with money or directions in life.
But, with the right motivation - when the chips are down, and everything is against him - that's when Kaiji really shines. It just might take a life-or-death struggle to bring it out. Kaiji learns through these torturous games that luck isn't on your side, or fate won't fall your way without working every angle you can to make it happen. Kaiji has shown nothing short of genius strategy and unstoppable determination in the face of adversity. His plans show quick-witted thinking, hard work and believing in his friends and allies will overcome any sick excuses for entertainment these yakuza put them through. He is willing to put anything on the line to get there, too: his life, his body, and unfathomable amounts of money, secure in himself and his friends that the underdog can truly overcome.
However, this underdog usually doesn't. Kaiji loses a lot, but it hasn't stopped him yet. He still fights, and will keep doing so. Even so, Kaiji has a charisma, an appeal to those like himself, and manages to rouse up complete strangers down on their luck. He manages to win them over, bringing them back from the depths of despair, ready to fight as tenaciously as he does – even if they know what they're getting into is a terrible idea or looks completely unwinnable.
Those thoughts are getting further and further from his mind as Kaiji slaves away for the yakuza in a large underground construction operation. Months after the final gambles against Tonegawa and Hyoudo, Kaiji falls back to his old life. Not only is Kaiji back to being desperately broke, shiftless and directionless, it's obvious that he also misses the rush of adrenaline and the thrill of the gambles that almost cost him everything. Finding the loan shark that initially got him into this mess to begin with, Kaiji is dragged off to pay for his debts into hard labor for the Teiai Company, slaving away as a construction worker with little food and rest with a 15-year sentence hanging over his head. Kaiji almost buckles under the pressure, but is waiting for his chance to break out. He still manages to scrape together what little hope his situation gives him to devise a plan out of there, one small step at a time.

Lloyd Asplund | Code Geass | Reserved
Character Name: Lloyd Asplund
Character Series: Code Geass
Canon Point: Post-canon
Preferred Housing: N/A
Background: Bam!
Personality: First impressions of the eccentric Britannian scientist paint him as a nice enough, if childish, guy. That, or an extremely obnoxious one. Always smiling, rather easygoing, and a general ball of enthusiasm at all but the worst of times (and sometimes even then; his definition of ‘worst’ never quite fit the general consensus). It is a true enough portrayal of who he is, that one funny guy. That is what he is, on the surface. His brutal honesty and utter lack of social graces that come right along with all of that, however, has a tendency to ruin the effect.
Beyond that surface, however, Lloyd has divorced himself from humanity. The most important thing in his life will always be his work and the freedom that comes with not dwelling on the suffering or pains of the world around him is a very appealing way to go about life. That isn’t to say that he won’t feign empathy on occasion, but that usually requires some convincing or a higher endgame to get. To Lloyd, people are tools, parts to a bigger machine. A good example of this is his engagement to Milly Ashford. He had no real interest in marrying her, she was just the best option for something he was going to have to do whether he liked it or not and he would have got a cool Knightmare Frame out of it. Even the people who are closest to him -- Cecile Croomy and Suzaku Kururugi -- are considered in this light; not as people, exactly, though they are more like endearing and interesting pets than a wrench in those cases; property that he’ll actually try to protect. He isn’t an exception to this case, either. He knows he fits into the system like just another cog in the machine rather than as a person and is content with that idea.
He has no problem making light of the struggles of other people, such as when he joked about Suzaku’s beliefs or ever so cheerfully informed Nina how indiscriminately deadly and horrible her invention was. He does it shamelessly. He doesn’t see why it would bother them. It’s just honesty, right? Don’t people like to hear the truth? So, yeah, empathy issues. Lloyd has them. Or, well, a lack of them. He just doesn’t have any to begin with. He can easily be filed under ‘sociopath’ for all the similar traits he exhibits. Though where he fails at picking up what others might be feeling, he makes up for it with picking apart motives and lies and doublespeak. After all, he grew up as a part of Brittanian nobility, and the common idea of them all being backstabbing liars is a very true to fact.
Lloyd does at least buck the typical symptom of not knowing how broken he is. He admits he’s been ‘broken from the very the start’, even without his assistant beating it into his head every other day. Even knowing that, it’s never bothered him; it’s just who he is and he doesn’t care, though that sliver of awareness does allow for a vague ability to dredge up a damn now and then. It really depends on who and what it concerns! The closer the person, the more likely he’ll endeavour to care, though the success of that is immensely variable. He’s gotten himself punched before for trying to keep someone from running off into a potentially deadly fight... by trying to play a game of ‘keep away’ with a Knightmare Frame’s key rather than talking things out like a responsible adult. He’s also taken an airship out into a war zone to ‘rescue his inventions’; the fact that his now ex-fiance and his favorite mecha pilot were in danger at the exact same time and place was ‘entirely coincidental’ and he’ll never say otherwise.
As mentioned before, work is his life. Really. It is. He is a genius and he loves to show it off through every little -- or enormous -- thing he makes. When he decides to throw himself into a project, he’ll go for hours and hours, someone else needing to remind him that things like food or sleep might be nice once in awhile. Through his work is also the best way to strike him, considering how covetous of it he is; like a freaking dragon hoarding a pile of robots instead of gold. Taking any of it will get some serious ineffective nerd rage and earn one hell of a grudge. Especially if you are Rakshata, remind him of Rakshata, or do anything even remotely Rakshata-like.
Lloyd is also a man who is very showy with his motions and often over exaggerates them. Sometimes it’s to get a point across or attention and sometimes it’s just because he feels like gesturing wildly or suddenly doing something unexpected. He can’t hold still for long, not unless he’s buried in a project, and even then tinkering is a far cry from actually holding still.
Finally, his love of pudding. As far as he’s concerned, it is perhaps the greatest achievement in snackdom known to mankind and this wouldn’t be a proper Lloyd application without mentioning it at least once. His rival even nicknamed him the Earl of Pudding due to something only known as ‘the pudding incident’, which has forever remained a mystery.
Sample Entry: Sample from another RP!
My journal name for him has changed between journal sites, but I’d be cool with proving ‘knightmaking’ is me if need be.
Notes: It’s probably a good idea to note he has a particularly advanced skillset: nothing superhuaman, since he's a normal human being, but he is a genius in the fields of physics, computer science, and engineering. He also has a decent working knowledge of biology and chemistry. And, yes, he can hack through networks and such, provided it’s possible in the first place.

Kon Shinonome | Amatsuki
Character Name: Kon Shinonome
Character Series: Amatsuki
Canon Point: Chapter 24
Preferred Housing: n/a
Background: Kon Shinonome, a part-time school student and computer hacker, finds himself in the Edo era after visiting a virtual exhibit sponsored by Sensai. He gets attacked by the nue who leaves scars down his right arm, rendering it useless and somehow manages, through his pain and terror, to survive. The old woman who helps him directs him to Shamon, a Buddhist priest, whose only conclusion is that Kon had been misplaced due to the nue and that there was no way for him to return to his time.
Needless to say, Kon freaks out. But after two years of adjusting to the reality and to the era he now lived in, Kon felt...oddly comfortable and more amused than he had ever been back in the modern day. He has his theories about waking up in the Edo era, theories that ranged from magic to the entire thing being a virtual hoax, but he could only wonder until he met Tokidoki Rikugou. Toki turned out to be his fellow classmate and someone who had also been in the exhibit the day Kon had been, but had only just appeared in this era now. At first wary, Kon warms up to Toki who manags to amuse Kon with his antics. Kon and Toki even team up together to play a prank on a samurai who had bothered Kuchiha earlier. Unfortunately, this draws the attention of the priestess Ginshu of the Sakagami Shrine, who invites Toki to visit her.
Kon and Kuchiha decide to accompany Toki and the three eventually reach the shrine, only to be attacked on suspicion that they are ayakashi or demons. With the misunderstanding cleared up, Ginshu asks Toki to work with her to destroy the demons of the world. Instead, Toki decides to break the demon curse that was placed on Ginshu ages ago and leaves with Kuchiha and one of the priestesses to find out how. Kon stays behind, mostly because of Ginshu's suspicious behavior. He soon finds out that the curse is what keeps Ginshu alive and if it breaks then the priestess will die, but is prevented from taking action by falling into a sleep spell.
He wakes up only to see Ginshu defy the gods and lose. The loss invites Teiten to "rewrite" the lives of all those that were involved with the priestess. Kon runs, but is eventually swallowed up by the darkness and falls to Teiten's manipulations.
Personality: From his first canon appearance, Kon comes across the type who keeps to himself. He has a good head on his shoulders, capable of making sensible decisions on his own, and has spent a good amount of his life looking out for himself. His peers have called him a 'delinquent', a 'guy that's quick to pick fights', but he's taken these names in stride. People assume the worst of Kon primarily because he doesn't bother explaining his actions to them. And while this may seem kind of cool, it's also a big hint to how Kon views the world (or at least modern Tokyo). It's not worth conforming or pleasing the people around him, nor is it worth maintaining a pleasant, unnoticeable facade. To truly live is to do something. To go against the rules and pursue the things that are interesting without worrying about what everyone else is thinking. This is why Kon is continuously finding, making, breaking, or putting his nose where it doesn't belong because that's what he loves doing. He has a tenaciousness about him that comes off as admirable to his friends and flat out annoying to his enemies. He's not the type to beat around the bush and will ask the awkward questions if no one else does.
Once you get past his 'rough' appearance (dyed hair, obvious disregard for the dress code) and his woefully short temper, you'll find that Kon is actually a friendly, casual guy (though he will draw the line at selfless giving). Kon embodies the 'I scratch your back, you scratch mine' principle. He'll help others out with the expectation that the favor will be returned someday. He's a guy with a strict code to uphold, though others may call him a swindler. (Oh you want a favor? You'll owe me.) Speaking of his "woefully short temper", Kon's preferred method with dealing with idiocy is violence whether it's through kicks, punches, or just flat out yelling. He can't stand people who pretend to be slow or stupid and he hates condescending and patronizing attitudes as much as the next guy.
Kon enjoys fights, puzzles, and all types of problems that can't be solved with one look. On the other hand, he chafes under control and unwanted guidance. So if you ever wanted someone to figure out something for you, then Kon is your guy. Unfortunately, he doesn't play by the rules which sometimes inconveniences the people around him. He also doesn't trust easily. He may be easygoing, but he is far from naive. Kon understands people. They're greedy and they're going to do stupid things. He doesn't expect a lot from them. Fortunately, living in Edo has helped him a little in that aspect. Back in modern Tokyo, Kon isolated himself from other people, but in Edo he finds it easier to befriend the common, hardworking, Japanese man. These are people he can respect - people who work doggedly at their way of life, unlike his spoiled peers in the present.
Kon's pretty blunt. If he doesn't like you then you'll know. And while that aspect of his personality may come off as unlikable, it has also helped him make the few relationships he treasures. His friendship with Toki and Kuchiha isn't the type of friendship that's survived all obstacles and withstood the test of time. He's only met these people recently (two years for Kuchiha and his high school years with Toki) and yet they've somehow left an impression on him. Maybe it's because they're similar to him, straightforward and honest without a single deceptive bone in their body. He feels at ease when he's with them. Sure he fights with Kuchiha almost every day and sometimes he can't stand Toki's idiocy, but he honestly doesn't mind (and it's fun to tease them).

Waver Velvet ♥ Fate/Zero ♥ RESERVED ♥ Spoilers(?)
Character Name: Waver Velvet
Character Series: Fate/Zero
Canon Point: Post Fate/Zero
Preferred Housing: N/A
Background: http://typemoon.wikia.com/wiki/Waver_Velvet
Personality: Waver Velvet is often misunderstood not only in his studies, but how he carries himself. With a scrawny build, a high-pitched tone, and the tendency to flip between his moods almost instantaneously, it’s no wonder many believe him to be incapable of accomplishing anything. Being mostly self-taught, the lineage of his family had only been around for three generations. So when he was accepted to the Clock Tower, a honor that every magus sought to have, it was his greatest achievement. Growing up surrounded by a field of adept magi on his own, he adopted different beliefs that were mocked often by other prestige magi; as an example, one of his professors openly embarrasses him in front of the classroom over something he was initially proud of. Even still, he refused to give up on his theories and instead sought out a way to be taken seriously.
When he heard that this very same professor was going to participate in the Holy Grail War in Fuyuki City, he stole his summoning catalyst and made for the other country. He only held one goal in mind: win the war so that the Mage’s Association would have no choice when it came to accepting or denying his theories. He would be heard no matter what. With little research of the war in mind, he became the Master of one of the seven Servants in the Holy Grail War.
He was not prepared in the slightest for the war. As a magus on the lower tier of the spectrum, he held no true offensive abilities. Additionally, he was not mentally prepared for the costs of a war that was a literal bloodbath. Initially he goes into the war alongside Rider’s side (something that helps strengthen their bond as Master and Servant), with the claim of an outstanding magus. It doesn’t take him long after to nearly wet his pants as the serious implications of the war dawn on them. Upon meeting the professor from which he stole from, he was paralyzed with fear.
Even though he’s nothing more than a coward at the beginning, Rider insists otherwise. When Kayneth asks the Servant who he would have preferred as a Master, both men are surprised when Rider claims that Waver’s superiority reigned over the prestige magus for the simple fact he rode in alongside him in battle instead of cowering in the shadows. In order to help prepare his Master better, Rider often takes him with him everywhere from that point forward. Even when they investigate Caster’s lair, he feels weak and vomits due to the monstrosities there, but it helps form an unyielding will. Rider continues to help bolster the confidence of the magus by insisting his practical manner of thinking was superior to the raw strength of their opponents, for evaluating the field of battle to minimize losses and to pick successful victories was important. Using his magic in clever, but simple manners, the two continue to survive through one of the most dangerous wars in the world.
Spending time normally with Rider helps him understand things in a different way. For a man who’s always been a prude and stuck up, Rider’s ability to relax and boldly claim his identity when asked initially cause a conflict. With his constant mentoring throughout life, Waver spends the entire Holy Grail War as though it was his coming of age ceremony. Whining and outright objects often led to Waver flying through the air due to a simple flick of the finger from his Servant. Even though he’s often pissy and in constant denial of his feelings, it doesn’t take much to bring out a flushed face. Something Rider ends up doing often if only for the pure amusement that comes with embarrassing the boy.
As the war comes to an end, Rider and Waver are left to face off against the most powerful Servant of the war, Archer. Regarded as the most dangerous one, the two still head into battle together. During this battle, Rider asks if Waver would serve him and the boy answers that he would without hesitation. Even though Rider ends up perishing in battle, Waver bravely stands up against Archer, showing just how courageous he’s grown under Rider, and insists that he is not the man’s Master, but his follower. This disinterests Archer and he leaves Waver behind, leaving him to fulfill Rider’s wish for him to survive.
There are many things that happen to Waver after his time spent in the war. While he eventually does end up a lecturer at the Clock Tower (as a hottie that almost every female student wants incidentally), he also aids in helping the Archibald family recover by assuming a title of the family, second only to the “tenth head” who is an actual blood relative who insists he must serve them for “being responsible” for the losses. Additionally, he ends up becoming an avid video game player and chooses to wear clothing that resembles the colors of his Servant.
Sample Entry: HERE!!
Notes: Since I am taking him post Fate/Zero, I have included a paragraph of how his personality changes in the future. He will show the early traits of these changes, but they shouldn’t overpower his nature as Waver.

Shiki Ryougi | Kara no Kyoukai
Character Name: Shiki Ryougi
Character Series: Kara no Kyoukai
Canon Point: post Paradox Spiral
Preferred Housing: N/A
Background: Shiki @ the TYPE-MOON wiki
Personality: To understand Shiki as she is today, you have to understand how she was in the past—back when she still had the personality called SHIKI within her. The Ryougi family has the supernatural ability to be born with a second personality, one male and one female. Ever since SHIKI awoke within Shiki, she has never known loneliness, never known what it was like to be without someone else. However, it also meant that as a child, when she should have had a naive and unwavering faith in other people, she knew how ugly they could be. It was this that made her grow to dislike other human beings, and herself for being one, and why she didn't interact with people all that much. SHIKI outright states that he and Shiki both hate other humans, and that certainly seems apparent given how distant and cold Shiki appears to be. That wasn't to say they disliked each other; rather than think of them as separate people, they're just two faces of the same person, just with different priorities. Shiki, who did not want to be harmed, could only "affirm" things while SHIKI, who only knew of harm, could only "deny" things. SHIKI represented all of Shiki's repressed thoughts and desires, things that could potentially open her up to other people. As they put it themselves, Shiki killed SHIKI over and over within herself. That's why SHIKI only knows of murder.
Due to the nature of having such a complicated split personality, there is a history of family members who inherit this trait going insane. By attempting to masquerade at a somewhat normal life, Shiki thought she could deal with her abnormalities like that. However, once she met Mikiya Kokutou, things began to change. Rather than just pretending to have normal "happiness," she began to understand what it meant to truly have it. She who was so far removed from normality, who at first glance could be called abnormal, began to understand what it meant to be normal. Unfortunately, this created a contradiction within Shiki that she couldn't resolve—with a heart that could only "affirm" things, she wanted to deny this chance at a normal life because she whole-heartedly believed that she couldn't attain it. Denying was the "domain" of SHIKI though, and it caused the two to become more and more out of sync. Both of them could see that continuing to interact with Mikiya would only cause insanity; to resolve this, Mikiya had to die. However, Shiki couldn't bring herself to do it. To destroy her own dream with her own hands—that's just too cruel, right? So instead she took the only option she saw available to her; she took herself out of his life by letting herself get run over.
Skip to two years in the future though, and it turns out that getting run over by a truck landed her in the hospital in a coma! Who knew? But more frightening than that was the fact that Shiki could no longer feel SHIKI. He was gone, had disappeared—he was dead. For the first time in her entire life Shiki knows what it means to be alone, and if that wasn't bad enough her eyes began to see strange things, lines that could make something break apart and die with a single touch. Frightened, confused, and utterly alone, she attempted to gouge her eyes out in a fit of terror. Fortunately for her though, that was when a woman by the name of Touko Aozaki stepped into Shiki's life and offered to teach her how to actually use her eyes. Not wanting to fall back into the empty void she had been seemingly floating around in for the last few years, Shiki decided to take her up on that offer.
Which finally brings us to the Shiki of today: a cold, apathetic, and sarcastic young woman with a rather awful liking for murder. With SHIKI dead she can't help but feel a distinct separation between the her of the present and the her of the past; she views her own memories like one would view a movie, as part of the audience and completely uninvolved. While she does recognize herself and knows that that girl is her, she can't help but not feel like that's true. However, to make up for the lack of SHIKI's presence, she takes up speaking like him while preserving her own self by acting as she did. That is to say, she speaks in a distinctively masculine way and is as blunt as they come, but also acts reserved and distant to those around her. She can be hard to approach, that's for sure.
Shiki is very apathetic, to a rather frightening degree even. Most sights that would disturb or scare other people don't get much more other than a passing glance from her. Ah, a body just landed in front of her after jumping off a building you say? Not her problem, Shiki's just going to walk around it. Wait, what do you mean her arm is being broken and twisted irreparably? It's okay, she let that happen on purpose so she could get an opening to strike, she'll take care of that later. Even if someone was to tell her something like they killed their own parents, rather than react with horror or disgust, she merely questions it instead. However, she can also come off as rather insensitive, such as saying that if a bunch of girls wanted to go ahead and kill themselves, they should have done it in a way that wouldn't bother anyone like jumping off a building. While it has to do with her rather strange view on death, it's also because, well she really doesn't care—as stated before, she isn't fond of human beings to begin with.
That's not to say that Shiki is impossible to get along with though. While she is indeed hard to approach and difficult to get along with, there are a good number of people she interacts well with. She's not above teasing someone or picking on them in a friendly nature, finishing their punchlines, or saying something absurd just to get a reaction out of them. With the right people, Shiki just comes off as rather whiny and sarcastic. She can seem like a bit of a party-pooper or even downright pouty. She likes asking people out-of-nowhere questions and getting a good laugh out of them, not in a mean or mocking way, but in the way a good friend always has something to tease about you. Perhaps it was due to how she was raised, but she can be especially sour if she doesn't get her exact way, enough to do something just for spite or payback. Look, she really wanted to take a look at her katana, so Touko saying she couldn't was just asking for trouble! It's not like taking the Harley with the sidecar just because Touko said not to was that bad or anything, right? Shiki is also very much a creature of whim; she might save someone from attacks out of boredom, or become somewhat upset that she's not allowed to feed some fish in a tank. She can be a bit unpredictable.
Still, as said before, Shiki really isn't someone you want to mess with. One of the conditions in working for Touko was being allowed to kill. Along with adopting SHIKI's way of speech, she adopted his own taste for murder as his own. That is to say, Shiki is a somewhat violent person. She knows how to act proper and behave in proper society, but she also won't hesitate to use force and violence if something stands in her way. Given a good enough opponent, she's never one to turn down a fight. However, despite her violent tendencies, she also has a great respect for death. Part of it is from being able to see death with her eyes, but it's also partly because of her grandfather's last words to her. He told her that a person could only kill one person in their entire life: themself. To kill another person is to kill yourself because you can't go back to the way you were before after what you've done. Since then, she's kept those words close to her heart, and because of them, her views on killing are a bit different from the norm. Murder, massacre, and slaughter are all completely different things in her mind, only one of them being even remotely close to acceptable. Though she would claim otherwise, she takes very special care not to kill humans. Everything else is fair game though—whether you're a spirit or a magus that was once human, she doesn't care. Granted, that doesn't mean she's going to go out of her way to save people; watching someone kill themselves doesn't particularly bother her, nor does seeing others get attacked.
Above all, Shiki truly loves Mikiya Kokutou. Sure, she's now capable of interacting and befriending other people—even liking them—but almost everything she does is in one way or another for him. While her deep respect for death is certainly a factor, she tries not to kill people so as not to disappoint Kokutou. Most of the times we see her actually lose her cool are not when experiencing great pain or anything like that, but when something is somehow or someway threatening Mikiya. She tells Kirie, the spirit that was making girl commit suicide, that she was killing her not because of the suicides but because she dared to try and take Mikiya away from her. When Satsuki Kurogiri tells her that he'll bring back her forgotten memories, she attacks him because she does not want them back—she is very well aware of the fact that they could destroy the peace she has managed to create with Mikiya. More than anything, she does not want to disappoint the undying faith he has in her, despite being unsure if she even deserves it. While she doesn't come to understand her own feelings for a long time, Shiki loves Mikiya and would do anything to see him safe and out of harm's way.

Maiya Hisau ♥ Fate/Zero ♥ Unreserved
Character Name: Maiya Hisau
Character Series: Fate/Zero ( She would have no business with Waver Velvet and he would have no business with her. )
Canon Point: Fate/Zero novel: Act 13 | Part 4.
Preferred Housing: N/A, preferably somewhere distant and with no roommates. If at all possible, under a fake alias.
Background: http://typemoon.wikia.com/wiki/Hisau_Maiya
Personality: Maiya Hisau maintains a professional demeanor in all that she does. Concise with her shots, adept at gathering information, and stealthy enough to not get caught makes her the perfect avatar in a war against magi. This gives the impression that she's a cold woman and perhaps at one point that was all she could be. From a country permanently caught up in conflict, she lost the innocence of her childhood, and had to endure many things that would break a person: kill as a child, kill other children, live through assault of varying degrees, and even give up her own child. This mixture of bitterness and hatred towards all she's known is easily a volatile solution that when unleashed can destroy so much.
Or if tempered properly, it could be shaped into the perfect tool.
Kiritsugu found her as a young girl and while at that point she probably lost sight of her humanity, he took her under his wing. As she grew under his instruction, her attitude shifted into the qualified ruthless killer that's shown during the Fourth Holy Grail War. There's nothing she's more devoted to than following that man and his ideal to change the world. Even if she must die, that's alright, because the world of peace he creates will have no purpose for a tainted individual such as herself. That's why she has no trouble keeping him on the path they've set no matter the cost. Even if she must do something as absurd as kiss him, her effectiveness always shines through, and the pair resume their work. Because Maiya's witnessed the toughness locked away in the heart of Kiritsugu, she's the only one who can draw it from him, and due to such she plays a hefty role in the war. Having no need for small talk, she appears nonchalant about most things around her, refusing to speak unless it's relevant information that must be shared. Even if she gives the impression of being dismissive, rest assured that she's keeping a careful eye on all of the people around her and considering alternate options at all times.
She's not without some emotion. With the stress of the Fourth Holy Grail War pressing down on her through miscellaneous injuries and general communication between Saber and Irisviel, Maiya does show a bit of her humane side. While she's most passionate about keeping Kiritsugu on his path, she does manage to lose her composure when Irisviel gives her heavy news about herself. Her loyalty to Kiritsugu isn't without flaws: while she should be reprimanded for keeping secrets from him, she does so in favor of not giving him additional distractions while he completes his task.
Often quick to dismiss herself and her feelings, she chooses to not speak on her own thoughts. Instead, she focuses on whatever task she has before her and if there fails to be one, she creates one. While she often appears to be distant and focused, there are times where she looks almost peaceful - mostly when she's been drugged after an intensive recovery, but it's there nonetheless as proof that she can fit in the lifestyle of the new world Kiritsugu aims to create should she allow it.

mikiya kokutou → kara no kyoukai → unreserved
Character Name: Mikiya Kokutou
Character Series: Kara no Kyoukai
Canon Point: Post Paradox Spiral (the fifth movie/novel)
Preferred Housing: If possible, could he be housed somewhere near (or with, if that's possible, otherwise near is fine) Shiki Ryougi?
Background: series wiki. and mikiya's page.
Personality: ( note: some references to rape and drug use are in here due to events in the story that are referred to. there are also spoilers. please take caution if these things are triggers for you or if you don't want to get spoiled. )
The most important fact about Mikiya is the most mundane fact at the same time - Mikiya is very, very normal. In fact, he's so normal that normalcy is his Origin. (A fairly complex term used in the series. As the Type-Moon wiki states: 'It is the starting point that defines one's existence and directs one's actions throughout life.' Here is a more detailed explanation, but I will refrain from going too much into details here for the sake of briefness.) So Mikiya is practically as normal of a guy you could find - he has normal reactions you would expect of a guy his age to things (in fact, if the audience is supposed to empathize with anyone's reactions, it's probably Mikiya's), he does normal things, lives a reasonably normal life. Except on the last point things change around a bit when he meets and gets involved with Shiki Ryougi, and it's then that we see how Mikiya clashes against the rest of the cast. Whereas he is surrounded by people with special abilities caught up in strange situations, he is a strong contrast with them due to his normalcy. Often when people are talking about supernatural phenomena it completely goes over his head, and he often states in the narration (or just in his direct speech) that he didn't understand much of it. He isn't afraid either to label some other people who aren't quite as normal as him as 'weirdos' - he often refers to his boss, Touko Aozaki, as a weirdo (although usually not to her face, but rather in the narration), although she is a rather definite weirdo case because of her personality as well. You could say that among all the crazy people we're shown in Kara no Kyoukai Mikiya is actually a nice beacon of normalness.
That being said, all his normalcy doesn't mean that he doesn't do odd things in a while. We're actually confronted by some behaviour that would probably be considered strange (or just an utter lack of common sense) by other people, but which are mostly derived from his other personality traits. In the second movie when Shiki is suspected of being the murderer in a serial murder case, Mikiya goes as far as stalking her house for days on end; standing outside her window to make sure she doesn't go outside just so he can prove her innocence. Even in the rain and snow, mind you. He's shown to have clear reasons for this behaviour though - it's merely out of loyalty and devotion to Shiki. Later on after he has been assailed by her and nearly killed, Shiki ends up in the hospital and Mikiya still keeps visiting her each week. Even up to a point where even the nurses are starting to call him loyal puppy-kun. You can't say Mikiya isn't a devoted and loyal person. In fact, when Touko tells him to hide his presence by holding an object, he actually breaks this concealment just to yell at a (quite dangerous for a normal person like him) dangerous man to ask him what he did to Shiki. It's exactly this devotion that sometimes brings him through impulsivity or just general bad decisions to these kind of situations.
He also did drugs because he wanted to investigate what it would be like. And apparently he thought the best way to do this was just through direct experience. Again: while Mikiya is often trying to be the voice of reason in a group of (slightly) more crazy people, he doesn't always have the most common sense though.
Mikiya is definitely a very nice guy though. During the story he's often busy helping people out one way or another. He has a good sense of responsibility, and often wants to take care of things or help out when he's not suited to do such a task at all - most of the time because they are up against something supernatural and he is just a regular guy without powers. This doesn't stop him from rushing into things regardless sometimes though. (When Shiki tells him he's an idiot, he just laughs and tells her that he's heard that more often. Probably because of this very fact.) Mikiya tends to butt in on things that aren't his business, if not just to try and help people out. When he finds Fujino in the third movie/novel on the streets, he takes her in for the night even though he doesn't even know her. In that same part of the story he also protects a rapist from a murderer (namely the girl he raped). Therefore it's noticable that he's even nice enough to protect a rapist from being killed, even when he practically deserves it. He does show disgust towards the guy, even as he helps him. Even Mikiya isn't completely nice to people who don't deserve it. He is the kind of person who just helps people out, he could never really harm people. The most he gets to do in the series is stab a guy who is about to kill him in a non-letal spot, and even then he's having extreme difficulties with just the very idea of this act. His niceness is also reflected in his relationship with Shiki. He completely trusts her. Even when all the evidence in a murder case points towards her being the likely culprit, and even finding her himself standing next to a fresh corpse, he still chooses to believe in her against all odds.
The last thing that should be mentioned about Mikiya is his optimism. The guy is ridiculously optimistic, up to a point where he loses an eye due to it being stabbed and can still make jokes about it afterwards and keep an optimistic view (along the lines of him still having another eye and just needing to adjust to a lack of depth perception and the like). His optimism is also apparent in his belief in Shiki (see the paragraph above). Another part of Mikiya where we can find his optimism is in connection to his tendency to constantly help people: even when he's told that people are beyond the point of salvation, he still insists on finding a way to save them. (Even when said people are clearly beyond the point of salvation that even the audience should be able to notice that much.)
So if one would have to describe Mikiya in short, the easiest would be to say that he's normal - at least, for a series full of crazy people - and can sometimes be seen as a bit of an idiot due to his actions, but he definitely always has good intentions behind it all.
Sample Entry: this should be okay! if not, there's also this if you dare braving the tough journey to livejournal.

Gabriel Cunningham ✚ Trauma Team ✚ Reserved
Character Name: Gabriel Cunningham
Character Series: Trauma Team
Canon Point: Post-canon
Preferred Housing: Anything’s good.
Background: Here.
Personality: Gabriel Cunningham’s a very sharp man, even when you exclude his medical expertise. He is not only able to ascertain near-undetectable signs pointing towards a patient’s condition, but also notice suspicious people and actions with little effort. This extends to his social life as well. It is not uncommon for Gabe to address the personal problems of his peers in a very effective manner. This could be the reason for his sizable social circle, which includes a variety of doctors from different hospitals and agencies.
However, despite this ability to understand others, he has little tolerance for people doing his job for him. Even when dealing with a machine, Gabe will constantly insist on doing things himself. He also seems to hold a fair bit of pride in not picking and choosing his patients, even when they’re family.
Gabe doesn’t have a good relationship with authority. He rarely makes reference to his days in the military, except once when complaining, and he develops an enmity with figures of power more often than not. He has absolutely no qualms about using legally gray methods if they will help him save his patients, such as requesting the aid of a convict. However, he’s of the firm belief that, if you’re not interfering on his job, he has no right to interfere on yours.
While constantly snarking to his colleagues and friends, Gabe is a very professional doctor. By his own admission, he says he half-asses his work, and that he’d stay at home all day if he could, but he actually follows procedure correctly, talks to patients politely, and sets their lives as a priority. Even if ordered to stop his diagnosis, he will not consider the job done until he knows what’s wrong with the patient. This professionalism can be reverted into his sarcastic self by exhibiting stubbornness and obstructive behavior, however.
Gabriel has a family, but he’s been estranged from it to unbelievable levels. His wife, while willing to talk to him, has already divorced him. His son doesn’t even know who he is. Gabriel tries to distance himself emotionally from them, acting as if they don’t have anything to do with him, but when pushed, he’ll reveal that he feels an immense guilt for not being able to be there for his son. Gabe cannot easily commit to something emotionally, not because of a fear of the future, but because of regret for the past. He considers himself to be the ‘worst father in the world’. This may also be the reason why he refuses to acknowledge his purpose as being that of saving patients.
It's also worth nothing that he's a heavily dependent smoker, even to the degree of comparing it as vital as oxygen to him.

Rosa Ushiromiya | Umineko no Naku Koro Ni | unreserved
Character Name: Rosa Ushiromiya
Character Series: Umineko no Naku Koro Ni
Canon Point: Turn of the Golden Witch, right after Beatrice’s tea party.
Preferred Housing: N/A
Background:
Rosa was born the youngest of the four children of the prestigious Ushiromiya family. Growing up, she was often bullied by her elder siblings. One day, when she was a teenager, she sought to escape her siblings and stern parents by hiding away in the dense forest of Rokkenjima Island. She inadvertently stumbled upon a secret mansion deep within the woods, and met its sole resident, the Witch Beatrice trapped in a human form. Rosa befriended the witch and decided to take her to see the outside world. However, Beatrice was overly excited in exploring and, when she and Rosa were walking along a seaside cliff, fell off the cliff to her supposed death and release from her human shell. Rosa kept the encounter secret and never divulged it to anyone, not even her siblings.
When she reached adulthood, Rosa fell in love with a man who would father her child named Maria. However, the man abandoned her soon afterwards. She and Maria were all but disowned by Rosa’s father Kinzo when Rosa decided to keep her fatherless child and name her Maria, against her father’s wishes. To support herself and Maria and to pay back the debt Maria’s father had saddled her with, Rosa took up a management career that she did not want as the owner of clothing company called Anti-Rosa. However, raising a child took a toll on her social life. Rosa still very much wished for romance, and taking care of Maria not only cut into her leisure time, but made her appear less attractive to the single men she chased after. Partly due to her own immaturity, she was often frustrated with Maria to the points that her harsh discipline would border on abuse. Though she often tried to be a good mother, even making Maria a stuffed lion named Sakutaro, her temper always got the better of her. In one of her rages, she even destroyed Sakutaro, driving a wedge between her and Maria.
Shortly after that incident, she and Maria attended the annual meeting of the Ushiromiya family. As they headed to the meeting, Maria whined about wanting to celebrate Halloween. This led to Rosa severely disciplining her daughter but later apologizing and buying Maria a candy at a train station to make it up to her. Afterwards, they arrived on Rokkenjima with Rosa’s siblings and the party all stopped to admire the main manor’s magnificent rose garden. During this time, Battler, Rosa’s nephew, asked Maria about Halloween. Her detailed explanation as well as fascination for the Golden Witch Beatrice angered Rosa, who considered it embarrassing that Maria still believed in magic. When the relatives went to the guesthouse, Rosa inflicted her discipline upon Maria and broke the candy that she had bought for the child. She left the child outside before proceeding to a meeting with the other adults. The meeting year was slightly different than all the others because the prospective heirs knew of their father’s deteriorating condition and the fact that he would probably soon die. They began arguing about the inheritance as well as the supposed secret cache of gold that Kinzo owned. At the time, Rosa, like the rest of her siblings, was experiencing financial trouble because her company’s business was floundering and the debt from Maria’s father was still unpaid. Kyrie, Rudolph’s wife, managed to soothe the mood by requesting that they all relax and take a drink of black tea. Rosa and Kyrie began talking, which led Rosa to regret her earlier actions with Maria and attempt to retrieve her child before the typhoon struck. She found Maria standing where she had left her. As she tried to get Maria to go back into the house with her, a mysterious woman who Maria identified as “Beatrice”, the witch of the island, arrived. Maria offered Beatrice the battered sweet, and as Rosa watched on, incredulous, Beatrice repaired the candy with “magic”. Beatrice also gave Maria and Rosa letters to read at the family meeting.
When the two came back into the house, the adults began discussing the identity of “Beatrice”. Rosa took Maria out into the hall to question her, but was unable to get any explanation beyond the fact that Beatrice was a “Witch”. At dinner, the adults became embroiled in an argument about Beatrice and expelled the children to the guesthouse so they could argue about Beatrice and the inheritance. There, they had a discussion which reached late into the night. The next morning, Rosa was called up by the servants to investigate the disappearance of her siblings and the strange magic circle on the chapel door. After opening the door, all six of the other parents were found gruesomely murdered in the chapel. Rosa, as the sole remaining Ushiromiya parent, tried to protect the children, especially Maria. However, she was unable to prevent Jessica’s murder after the girl became overly emotional and had to be left alone. Rosa, after trying to consult with Kinzo, but finding him still locked away in his study, took one of her father’s Winchester rifles and urged everyone to stay together. She referred to the situation as a wolf and sheep puzzle, where the culprit was the wolf and everyone else was the sheep. In the wake of discovering Jessica’s death, she accused all of the present servants and the already dead but disappeared Kanon of committing the crime. Even Battler’s reassurances were not enough to ease her doubts and she later expelled all servants from the room that she and the children were in.
Afterwards, Shannon, Genji, and Gohda called her to the servants’ room since Kumasawa and Dr. Nanjo were killed. Rosa once again suspected the servants, and due to the absence of the corpses, would not believe that the other two were dead and thus beyond suspicion. She forced the servants to relinquish their Master Keys and once again drove them away from her group, though this time George left with Shannon. To Battler’s shock, not even the servants obediently giving her their keys and removing themselves from the relative safety of Rosa’s group would make her trust them. She continued to see only herself and Maria as the ones she could trust.
In the end, after discovering the missing bodies of Kumasawa and Nanjo, as well as the bodies of George, Shannon, and Gohda, Rosa continued to suspect Genji, and even turned her suspicions on Battler after finding a letter from Beatrice in their locked room. Shortly after, she took one of the ingots of gold from the chapel where the first six victims lay and tried to escape the island with Maria. However, they were pursued by Beatrice’s goat familiars. Rosa fought bravely, protecting her daughter, but in the end, she was overwhelmed by the goats. Waking up in Beatrice’s Golden Land, she was offered a meal by the witch, supposedly as a form of condolence. However, she soon realized that her meal was composed of the flesh of her dead siblings. As a final “treat”, Beatrice tried to make Maria into Rosa’s dessert, but mother and daughter were rescued by Battler, who once again picked up playing the Witch’s game.
Personality:
Raised in a mostly loveless household and relentlessly bullied by her older siblings, Rosa never properly developed parenting skills, confidence, or maturity. Nowhere is this better seen than in her relationship with Maria. As Maria’s mother, she indulged much of her early bad behavior, not knowing when she should be firm. However, once Maria’s tantrums reached a certain point, she easily became frustrated and retaliated the only way she knew how—with extreme physical discipline. However, she is also quick to regret her periods of lashing out at Maria. Like a child, she does not know how to properly resolve conflicts or act firmly without becoming physically violent. She also lacks the emotional fortitude and patience to deal with the usual trials of a parent, becoming easily flustered or angered. In addition, she explains the rage as a “black witch” possessing her, thus shunting blame away from herself. She is impatient with Maria’s developmental delays, discouraging her belief in magic and verbal tic because they are an expression of those delays. She also dislikes the idea of anyone even implying that she cannot control her daughter. She nevertheless puts on an easygoing act, allowing her nieces and nephews to think of her as the “cool” one of the family.
Her treatment of Maria also stems from the inferiority complex she developed from her siblings’ bullying. She is generally either submissive or uninvolved whenever family matters come up, as she knows she cannot compete with her siblings. Giving birth to Maria was, for her, an act of rebellion against the family who had constantly controlled and belittled her. She does her best to project a mature, level-headed personality so she can escape her family’s perception of her as a stupid, easily bullied child. However, she constantly breaks this façade when around Maria, whose behavior seems to mark Rosa as a “bad” mother and embarrasses her in public.
Rosa is also rather ruthless. While she is willing to risk everything to protect her child, she has little consideration for anyone else. After the Rokkenjima murders started, she isolated the servants from the Ushiromiya family under the rationale that since they were not of Ushiromiya blood, they had more reason to act as the murderers. Even after Battler tried to persuade her that the servants could not be the culprits, she only offered a superficial apology, still considering the servants to be outsiders who could not be trusted. She also was ready to kill her nieces and nephews should they show any threat to her and Maria. This also shows her careful nature and intelligence. She chooses to err on the side of caution, even if it means exposing potential innocents to danger. Like her siblings, she is willing to use any measures necessary acquire the money needed to pay back her debt.
There is also a romantic side to Rosa, one that does not manifest in the best of ways. When she fell in love with Maria’s father, she was willing to cosign a large loan with him, and worked to pay back the debt because she thought he would return to her once she did. After he made it clear to her that he was not going to return, she shifted her interests to finding romance with someone else. However, her dates would sometimes cause her to neglect Maria. Maria’s reaction was to develop a verbal tic that Rosa had once taught to her as a “spell of happiness”. Rosa proceeded to see it as just another expression of Maria’s developmental delay. This delay in turn caused problems with Rosa and her boyfriends. It turned into a vicious cycle where Rosa believed that Maria was an obstacle to her romantic relationships and became frustrated with her, thus beating her even more; while Maria, desperately hoping for her mother’s love, continued using her verbal tic. In addition, Rosa also half-resented Maria, blaming her for causing Rosa’s lover to leave.
However, all her immaturity and tendency to suspicion aside, Rosa is a very protective mother. She truly loves Maria, feeling extremely remorseful for beating her daughter during her fits of bad temper. She knows, on some level, that she is indeed unfit to be a mother and apologizes about that to Maria. When not beating Maria, she indulges her daughter, partly out of guilt. She believes Maria is everything she has and will do anything to protect her. On the verge of death, she was willing to even abandon the money she had taken to pay her debt, because to her, Maria was more important. She is filled with love, both filial and romantic, but either kind can easily overwhelm her.

Notes: Rosa is a human with no special abilities. However, she has a certain amount of skill with firearms like Winchester rifles, and in a pinch, is good at improvising weapons. She has also inherited the Ushiromiya “magic” which, when fuelled by love, allows her to pull off almost superhuman stunts of strength and marksmanship.
Cpt./MSgt. Joseph Allen--[None]--unreserved
Character Name: Joseph Allen
Character Series: N/A, was made up a while back
Canon Point: N/A
Preferred Housing: Away from others
Background: Joseph Allen is what some would call a 'war junkie,' but that is actually very accurate, seeing as he served seven years in England's elite Special Air Service (S.A.S.) and attained the rank of Captain, though later on he left the S.A.S. after a I.E.D. immobilized him for 18 months. He then migrated to America and joined up with the United States Marines, finding work as an instructor for five years before having Honorable Discharge at the rank of Master Sergeant. That is when he moved to Japan, looking for some peace. He is still armed to the teeth, though it may not seem like it.
Personality:
Cpt./MSgt. Joseph Allen is normally a very laid-back, aloof man who does not seem to take things seriously, though he had acquired this trait through training in both the S.A.S. and U.S.M.C. He has a deep understanding of most matters, but he never lets it get in the way of his job, no matter what it is. He will always put the good of the mission first, even if it means his own life.
He walks with a slight limp from the I.E.D. attack, though it does not seem to bother him. You can tell he has a military background, mostly because it looks as if he is constantly marching to his own cadence. Due to this, people never underestimate his skills in combat.
He will be a kind man when met, but that may very quickly change if he feels to be threatened. He was trained as a Special Ops soldier in the S.A.S., and he can be hot-headed. The man most people see is merely a cover for the truth-- a dark, sadistic being.
The man speaks with a heavy English accent, but he is still fluent in twenty three languages, including French, Spanish, German, and Japanese. Most common languages are spoken by him, making him a international asset. When spoken to, he will quietly reply in the language spoken to him.
Sample Entry: I apologize, but I have none available. I will dig one up as soon as possible.
Notes: He is a sentimental man, and he wears a face mask, though it looks real. If what happened when he was in the S.A.S. is somehow brought up, he will dodge the subject. He is proficient in firearms, blades, and hand-to-hand combat.
