Lloyd Asplund | Code Geass | Reserved

Player Name: LA
Character Name: Lloyd Asplund
Character Series: Code Geass
Canon Point: Post-canon
Preferred Housing: N/A
Background: Bam!

Personality: First impressions of the eccentric Britannian scientist paint him as a nice enough, if childish, guy. That, or an extremely obnoxious one. Always smiling, rather easygoing, and a general ball of enthusiasm at all but the worst of times (and sometimes even then; his definition of ‘worst’ never quite fit the general consensus). It is a true enough portrayal of who he is, that one funny guy. That is what he is, on the surface. His brutal honesty and utter lack of social graces that come right along with all of that, however, has a tendency to ruin the effect.

Beyond that surface, however, Lloyd has divorced himself from humanity. The most important thing in his life will always be his work and the freedom that comes with not dwelling on the suffering or pains of the world around him is a very appealing way to go about life. That isn’t to say that he won’t feign empathy on occasion, but that usually requires some convincing or a higher endgame to get. To Lloyd, people are tools, parts to a bigger machine. A good example of this is his engagement to Milly Ashford. He had no real interest in marrying her, she was just the best option for something he was going to have to do whether he liked it or not and he would have got a cool Knightmare Frame out of it. Even the people who are closest to him -- Cecile Croomy and Suzaku Kururugi -- are considered in this light; not as people, exactly, though they are more like endearing and interesting pets than a wrench in those cases; property that he’ll actually try to protect. He isn’t an exception to this case, either. He knows he fits into the system like just another cog in the machine rather than as a person and is content with that idea.

He has no problem making light of the struggles of other people, such as when he joked about Suzaku’s beliefs or ever so cheerfully informed Nina how indiscriminately deadly and horrible her invention was. He does it shamelessly. He doesn’t see why it would bother them. It’s just honesty, right? Don’t people like to hear the truth? So, yeah, empathy issues. Lloyd has them. Or, well, a lack of them. He just doesn’t have any to begin with. He can easily be filed under ‘sociopath’ for all the similar traits he exhibits. Though where he fails at picking up what others might be feeling, he makes up for it with picking apart motives and lies and doublespeak. After all, he grew up as a part of Brittanian nobility, and the common idea of them all being backstabbing liars is a very true to fact.

Lloyd does at least buck the typical symptom of not knowing how broken he is. He admits he’s been ‘broken from the very the start’, even without his assistant beating it into his head every other day. Even knowing that, it’s never bothered him; it’s just who he is and he doesn’t care, though that sliver of awareness does allow for a vague ability to dredge up a damn now and then. It really depends on who and what it concerns! The closer the person, the more likely he’ll endeavour to care, though the success of that is immensely variable. He’s gotten himself punched before for trying to keep someone from running off into a potentially deadly fight... by trying to play a game of ‘keep away’ with a Knightmare Frame’s key rather than talking things out like a responsible adult. He’s also taken an airship out into a war zone to ‘rescue his inventions’; the fact that his now ex-fiance and his favorite mecha pilot were in danger at the exact same time and place was ‘entirely coincidental’ and he’ll never say otherwise.

As mentioned before, work is his life. Really. It is. He is a genius and he loves to show it off through every little -- or enormous -- thing he makes. When he decides to throw himself into a project, he’ll go for hours and hours, someone else needing to remind him that things like food or sleep might be nice once in awhile. Through his work is also the best way to strike him, considering how covetous of it he is; like a freaking dragon hoarding a pile of robots instead of gold. Taking any of it will get some serious ineffective nerd rage and earn one hell of a grudge. Especially if you are Rakshata, remind him of Rakshata, or do anything even remotely Rakshata-like.

Lloyd is also a man who is very showy with his motions and often over exaggerates them. Sometimes it’s to get a point across or attention and sometimes it’s just because he feels like gesturing wildly or suddenly doing something unexpected. He can’t hold still for long, not unless he’s buried in a project, and even then tinkering is a far cry from actually holding still.

Finally, his love of pudding. As far as he’s concerned, it is perhaps the greatest achievement in snackdom known to mankind and this wouldn’t be a proper Lloyd application without mentioning it at least once. His rival even nicknamed him the Earl of Pudding due to something only known as ‘the pudding incident’, which has forever remained a mystery.

Sample Entry: Sample from another RP!

My journal name for him has changed between journal sites, but I’d be cool with proving ‘knightmaking’ is me if need be.

Notes: It’s probably a good idea to note he has a particularly advanced skillset: nothing superhuaman, since he's a normal human being, but he is a genius in the fields of physics, computer science, and engineering. He also has a decent working knowledge of biology and chemistry. And, yes, he can hack through networks and such, provided it’s possible in the first place.
